Chalkley Treehouse, Lion Sands Game Reserve, South Africa

Image
The African landscape stretches as far as the eye can see at Lion Sands, & they knew they had to discover a special place to capture & enjoy its vastness & splendor. Man Aubrey Chalkley one time set up camp in an imposing centuries-old Leadwood Tree to escape predators roaming the plains below. They decided that this would be the ideal place to build the final bush bedroom, the Chalkley Treehouse. The tree house is a secure & lavish platform under the African stars, with all the comforts that a visitor can experience at a star safari lodge. They take our guests to the tree house at sundown, where drinks as well as a scrumptious picnic dinner await them. The hours of African dusk can be enjoyed relaxing & absorbing the vastness of the bush-veld as it transforms from day to night, before turning in for slumber beneath the brilliant night sky. Over the past 60 years, this tree-house has been reinforced & adorned with a cozy double bed, a hot-water bottle, dres

Baines' Camp, Botswana

Image
The main area has a deck for outdoor dining & views over the permanent water of the lagoon. The little luxuries are well represented here: there is a swimming pool with private salas for relaxation. To explore on land, game drives in 4x4 vehicles will get you close to Africa's greatest predators by day & in this private reserve, continue well after dark. The permanent water opens up the whole world of floating safaris, atmospherically silent at the gentle pace of a poled mokoro. Truly an eco-camp, the camp walls have been made from recycled materials & neutrally decorated to blend in with the natural habitat. Effortlessly romantic & set amongst shady trees & large termite mounds nestles the little & intimate Sanctuary Baines' Camp. Poised between the plains game of Moremi & the permanent waters of the Okavango Delta, the area is great for all bird & animal species. An additional matchless attraction is the chance to meet the orphan

Chole Mjini Lodge, Tanzania

Image
Some Swahili Coast aficionados have been to Zanzibar plenty of times but seldom heard of its small cousin, the island of Mafia. The name may sound ominous, but Mafia is a brilliantly innocent island of sand & shimmering light, around 160 kilometers south of Zanzibar. Of the few individuals who make it here, most are divers: in the surrounding waters whale sharks & turtles float above a quantity of the best preserved coral reefs in Tanzania. A actual getaway to a stunning remote island. Be at with nature in your one-of-a-kind treehouse, no windows or doors, surrounded by jungle foliage & fanned by a breeze straight off the sea. Swim in crystal clear water, coral gardens with colours that leave you speechless, dive with whale sharks, sundown sails, romantic, candlelit outdoor dinners, a quantity of our wonderful memories. Mafia has an even tinier relative, Chole, an islet over a kilometer long tucked off its southeastern shore. Hidden among the dense mangroves, baobabs

Red Bull Hangar-7 (Salzburg, Austria)

Image
Art is not introduced obtrusively here. , it is mixed in to the environment in a subtle and classy way. This alone guarantees a unique atmosphere inside the impressive glass dome of Hangar-7, for the exhibited pieces can literally be seen in a different light depending on the weather or the position of the sun. Hangar-7 at Salzburg Airport is a unique architectural work of art. Originally planned to accommodate the Flying Bull's steadily growing collection of historic aircraft, Hangar-7 has become synonymous with avant-garde architecture, modern art and exquisite dining. Due to its weird architecture, Hangar-7 has emerged as a one-of-a-kind new landmark in the city of Salzburg. In designing Hangar-7, the attempt was made to filter the world of aviation in to the architecture and to generate a unique setting whose flowing lines can be perceived in dimensions with all of the senses. Standing inside of it, the transparent shell seems to open in to an countless sky above the historic
