Sjahrial Djalil, sang pemilik Museum, menghabiskan waktu 42 tahun untuk mengumpulkan 2.481 koleksi benda bersejarah, yang berasal dari 63 negara dan 21 provinsi di Indonesia. Ada sebuah rumah sakit yang tersembunyi di dalam gua sepanjang 6 mil dan terowongan di bawah bukit yang menyimpan kisah sejarah kota Budapest, Hungaria. Selama Perang Dunia ke-II, beberapa gua di bawah bukit Buda Castle digunakan sebagai tempat berlindung oleh warga dari serangan udara. The Museum's mission is to exhibit, educate and eternalize the role of the World War II combat aircraft and the role the pilots and American citizens had in winning the war.
